Suspect Charged with 1st Degree Assault - Roland Fenwick

Great Mills, Maryland - On April 29th at 11:36 PM, deputies responded to a residence on Charles Way, for a domestic assault involving a firearm. The investigation revealed, the victim engaged in an argument with the suspect, identified as Roland Louise Fenwick, age 51, of Great Mills, while at Fenwick's home. Fenwick suddenly threw the victim on the sofa and began to strangle the victim with his hands. The victim was able to break free and run out of the home. The victim ran to a neighbor's home while Fenwick gave chase with a shotgun pointed at the victim's head. The neighbor let the victim and a relative of the victim, who also fled Fenwick's home during the assault, inside. However, Fenwick quickly entered the home in pursuit of the victims without the homeowner's consent while still armed with the shotgun. The relative of the victim was able to take the shotgun away from Fenwick and run from the home. Fenwick then fled from the neighbor's home. Deputies later determined Fenwick had left the area in a vehicle prior to their arrival. Fenwick also stole the victim's cell phone during the assault.

Numerous deputies and a Sheriff's Office K9 unit responded and conducted an exhaustive search for Fenwick, but were unable to locate him.

Deputy L. Johnson immediately applied for an arrest warrant, which was issued by the District Court Commissioner.

On April 30th at approximately 9:00 AM, Fenwick was located at the Charles Way address and placed under arrest. He was served the warrant charging him with 2 COUNTS 1st Degree Assault, 2 COUNTS 2nd Degree Assault, Home Invasion, Theft Under $1,000, Rifle/Shotgun Possession with Felony Conviction, and Use of a Firearm in Commission of Crime of Violence.
