Pax River Air Expo

The Pax River Air Expo will take place on Saturday June 2, 2018 and Sunday June 3, 2018.  Beginning in the afternoon on both days, traffic exiting the base from Gate 1, will only be permitted to turn north on Route 235, or proceed straight across onto Pegg Road.  Traffic exiting the base from Gate 2 will only be permitted to continue straight onto Great Mills Road, or continue south on Route 235.  At this time there are no plans to alter traffic patterns for entry onto the base through either gate.

Burglary-  On April 10, 2018, Cpl. Corcoran responded to the 44000 block of Beechwood Court, located in California, for the reported burglary.  The victim advised Allen Lewis Storms, age 56, of California, entered his residence uninvited (victim does not know Storms), and threw a bag of mulch across the floor, yelled at the victim and a witness, and then left the residence.  Storms was located in the area, and investigation determined Storms to be the individual who entered the victim's residence.  Storms was arrested and charged with Burglary 4th Degree.  CASE# 18523-18

Assault-  On April 10, 2018, DFC. D. Assault-  On April 12, 2018, Cpl. Kirkner responded to the 25000 block of Budderleigh Place in Helen, for a reported assault.  The victim advised during an argument Jonah Luke Gleason, age 23, of Helen, struck the victim in the face causing the victim's nose to bleed.  Gleason was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd Degree.  CASE# 18778-18

Assault-  On April 13, 2018, DFC. Illegal Possession of Ammunition- On April 8, 2018, DFC.  J. Smith responded to the Motel 6, located in Lexington Park, for the report of staff finding a large bag containing ammunition.  Investigation determined Keith Antoine Mackall, age 27, of Lusby, and Antoine Keith Mackall, age 25, also of Lusby, were utilizing the motel room where the ammunition was located; both initially provided DFC. Smith false names as both were wanted on Violation of Probation warrants in Lusby.  Both suspects were prohibited by law of possessing firearms or ammunition; both were arrested and charged with their outstanding warrants, Illegal Possession-Ammunition, and Fraud-Person-Identity to Avoid Prosecution.  CASE# 18051-18

Theft-  On April 8, 2018, Dep. Holdsworth responded to a reported theft in the 44000 block of St. Andrew's Church Road, in California.  Investigation determined Matthew Bryan Thompson, age 32, of Lexington Park, had taken property from Harris Teeter, as well as Weis.  Thompson was charged via a criminal citation for Theft.  CASE# 18058-18 (No Photograph Available)

Assault-  On April 8, 2018, DFC. Nauman responded to the area of 17751 Three Notch Road, in Lexington Park, for a reported assault.  Investigation revealed the victims were involved in a road rage incident with Joshua Bryan Aquilino, age 24, of Ridge.  The victims advised Aquilino pulled up alongside them, and "racked" a round in a handgun and pointed it at them.  DFC. Nauman located Aquilino and recovered a loaded magazine containing 45 caliber bullets and a Glock firearm.  Aquilino was arrested and charged with Assault 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment, and Firearm Use/Felony-Violent Crime.  CASE# 18104-18

Assault- On April 8, 2108, Cpl. Reppel responded to the 48000 block of Evergreen Park Road, in Lexington Park, for the reported assault.  Investigation revealed Samuel Eugene Eggleston Jr., age 67, of Lexington Park, was involved in a verbal argument with the victim.  The victim advised Eggleston who was operating a Ford F150, was backing out of a driveway, when he suddenly put the vehicle in drive and pulled forward striking the victim.  After striking the victim with the vehicle Eggleston left the area.  Eggleston was located, arrested, and charged with Assault 1st Degree and Assault 2nd Degree.  CASE# 18085-18

Property Destruction-  On April 9, 2018, Dep. Westphal responded to the St. Mary's County Detention and Rehabilitation Center for the reported property destruction.  Investigation determined Jonathan Albert Anderson, age 27, of Lexington Park, damaged the glass window to a holding cell.  Anderson was charged with Malicious Destruction of Property.  CASE# 18229-18

Theft-  On April 9, 2018, DFC. Tirpak responded to the 45000 block of Alton Lane, in California, for a report of a burglary to motor vehicle.  The victim advised while the vehicle was in the parking lot, a window on the vehicle was smashed and a wallet stolen from the center console.While on the scene DFC. Tirpak was able to gather a suspect description from nearby witnesses, and while interviewing the victim, a fraud alert was sent to the victim advising the victim's stolen credit cards were being utilized at a nearby store.  Cpl. Stone responded to the California Sheetz, and found Christopher Glenn James III, age 28, of Bushwood, attempting to utilize the victim's credit cards at the register.  James was detained and the victim's stolen property was recovered from James' person and also inside his vehicle.  James was also in possession of a glass smoking device, hypodermic needle, suspected cocaine and heroin, as well as other CDS paraphernalia.  James was charged with Malicious Destruction of Property, Rogue and Vagabond, Theft, Theft Scheme, Credit Card-Steal Another's, CDS Possession-Paraphernalia, CDS Possession-Not Marijuana, VOP Rouge and Vagabond, and VOP Theft.  CASE# 18246-18

Assault- On April 9, 2018, Dep. J. Davis responded to the 45000 block of Happyland Road, in Valley Lee, for a reported assault.  The victim advised Demetrius Roy Dyson, age 28, of Lexington Park, assaulted the victim.  While Dep. Davis was conducting the investigation Dyson became disorderly; Dyson was ultimately arrested and found to have paraphernalia containing suspected cocaine residue.  Dyson was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Hindering, Failure to Obey a Lawful Order, Trespassing, and CDS Possession-Not Marijuana.  CASE# 18267-18 (No Photograph Available)

Theft Suspects- IDENTIFIED


                                   

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the identity of the individuals pictured.  On May 16, 2018, the pictured individuals used a stolen credit card to make a purchase at the Family Dollar store located on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park. Suspect one is described as a black female, who was wearing a white and blue shirt with black pants; suspect two is described as a black female, who was wearing a pink shirt and gray pants. At the time of this incident the suspects had a small child with them.

Vandalism Investigations

Numerous cases of vandalism to vehicles and homes were reported to the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office on May 27, 2018 and May 28, 2018. The crimes reported occurred in the following neighborhoods: Hickory Hills located in Great Mills, Town Creek located in Lexington Park, and Laurel Glen located in California. The suspect(s) punctured tires, and in some instances spray painted graffiti on vehicles and homes; estimated value of damaged property is $14,000.

Motor Vehicle Collision - Update


UPDATE:  On May 26, 2018, at approximately 3:06 PM, Tommy Lee Cook Jr. succumbed to his injuries sustained in the motor vehicle collision.  The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation.

On May 25, 2018, at approximately 8:01 PM, deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 38000 block of All Faith Church Road, in the area of New Market Turner Road, in Mechanicsville, for the reported motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival, units located a single vehicle on its side with an occupant trapped. The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and continued the investigation. 

Initial investigation determined a 2011 GMC Terrain, operated by Tommy Lee Cook Jr. age 50, of Mechanicsville, was traveling southbound on All Faith Church Road in the area of Wanda Lane, when Cook failed to negotiate a curve, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway.  The vehicle struck an embankment, reentered the roadway, and overturned several times before coming to a rest on its passenger side.  Cook was extricated from the vehicle and initially transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital with incapacitating injuries; after initial treatment Cook was transferred to an area trauma center by helicopter for further treatment.  At this time speed and alcohol appear to be contributing factors in the collision.

Assault- On April 1, 2018, Cpl. Knott responded the 27000 block of Mechanicsville Road, in Mechanicsville, for the reported disturbance.  Upon arrival officers were advised Daniel Kenneth Douglas, had discharged a gun inside the residence.  While officers were getting initial information Douglas attempted to flee the residence on foot, and was apprehended.  Investigation determined after a confrontation with the victim, Douglas became upset, obtained a gun, and fired a shot inside the residence, (investigation later determined Douglas had fired a blank).  Douglas is prohibited by law from possessing a firearm and is also the respondent in an active protective order which prohibits Douglas from possessing a firearm.  Douglas was arrested and charged with Assault 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Malicious Destruction of Property, two counts of Violation of Protective Order, Firearm Use/Felony-Violent Crime, Registered Firearm-Illegal Possession, Firearm Possession W/Felony Conviction, and Resist/Interfere with Arrest.  CASE# 16791-18

Violation of Protective Order- On April 3, 2018, Dep. Sidorowicz responded to the 20000 block of Pt. Contraband- On April 3, 2018, Dep. Chase responded to the St. Mary's County Detention and Rehabilitation Center, in Leonardtown, for the report of found contraband.  Investigation determined Andrew Michael Hood, age 29, of Lusby, was returned to the detention center in violation of his pre-trial release; Hood was found to be in possession of suspected Tramadol pills.  Hood was charged with CDS Possession-Not Marijuana and Possession of Contraband in a Place of Confinement.  CASE# 17185-18

Burglary- On April 4, 2018, Dep. Fenwick responded to the 21000 block of Little Girl's Way, in Lexington Park, for the reported burglary. A witness observed an individual later identified as Steven Rene Tharpe Jr., age 28, of Great Mills, on the back porch of a residence which had damaged window screens.  Tharpe was located shortly after the incident at the Great Mills Sheetz; Tharpe had previously been served a notice not to trespass at the Sheetz; Tharpe was also found to be in possession of a hypodermic needle and heroin.  Tharpe was arrested and charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Burglary 4th Degree, Malicious Destruction of Property, CDS Possession-Not Marijuana, CDS Possession-Paraphernalia, and Trespassing.  CASE# 17355-18

Drug Arrest-  On April 5, 2018, Cpl. Stone responded to the 47000 block of Foxchase Drive in Lexington Park for the reported hit and run accident.  Cpl. Stone was able to locate the suspect vehicle, and inside the vehicle asleep in the driver's seat was Gerald NMN Auker, age 51, of Great Mills.  While on the scene Cpl. Stone became aware Auker had an outstanding warrant for Theft.  Auker was placed under arrest for the outstanding warrant and was found to be in possession of suspected heroin.  Auker was arrested and charged with Theft, CDS Possession-Not Marijuana, CDS Possession-Paraphernalia, Failure of Vehicle Driver in Accident to locate and Notify Owner of Vehicle Damage.  CASE# 17481-18

Assault-  On April 6, 2018, Dep.
