Lock Your Vehicle Doors to Deter Theft

The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office again urges citizens to be vigilant and to keep your vehicles locked, day or night. Locking a vehicle's doors is the simplest and most effective action that you can take to prevent breaking and entering into your vehicle. It's not guaranteed to stop a thief, but it's the best deterrent. If you must leave anything of value in your vehicle, keep it out of sight and do not leave loose change or other personal items out in plain view in cup holders or ash trays.

This would-be thief walks away after finding that the car door is locked, in search of an unlocked vehicle. Don't let it be yours.
