Remembering Jaelynn

On March 30, 2018, Jaelynn Rose Willey was laid to rest. Jaelynn will be missed by all of us at the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office.  On January 23, 2014, Girl Scout Troop #1443, presented Sheriff Tim Cameron and the Special Operations Division K-9 Unit with a ballistic K-9 vest.  Willey was part of that Girl Scout Troop, that worked diligently to raise money for the ballistic vest.

The members of Troop #1443, earned the majority of the funds to purchase the vest by selling fruit cups and lemonade at Earth Day, the Solomon's Boat Race, as well as solicited money from local businesses.

Present at Jaelynn's funeral, were members of the K-9 Unit, who displayed the donated vest to honor Jaelynn's contribution to the Sheriff's Office.  Since the vest was presented, K-9 Noro, and K-9 Brock wore it on many occasions; the vest continues to be utilized and will now be worn by K-9 Cero.  The Sheriff's Office will always remember Jaelynn, and her contribution to protect our K-9 officers who in return are protecting the citizens of St. Mary's County.
