Suspects Arrested After Home Invasion Robbery - Mechanicsville

Mechanicsville, Maryland - March 1, 2015, at 11:45 PM, Sheriff’s Office patrol units responded to the 36000 block of West Lakeland Drive, for the report of a home invasion. Victims reported two male suspects entered the home armed with a handgun and a baseball bat. The suspects demanded money and cell phones from the two victims. The victims complied and neither sustained any injuries. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division were contacted, responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

Detectives, with the assistance of patrol officers, identified both suspects who were located and arrested without incident. A search warrant was obtained for the suspect’s residence and vehicle. Property was subsequently recovered belonging to the victims.

James W. T. Burke, age 29, of Mechanicsville, and David S. Lee, age 27, of Mechanicsville, were transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. 

Burke was charged with Robbery and Theft 1,000 to $10,000. 

Lee was charged with two counts of 1st Degree Assault, Theft $1,000 to $10,000 and Theft under $500.  Both suspects are pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

 Addition charges are pending a review with States Attorney Richard Fritz.
