A change in state law is moving
the administration of bingo licenses from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office
to the St. Mary’s County Treasurer’s Office as of Friday, Oct. 1, 2021.
Enacted by House Bill 530, the law transfers bingo administration duties under current law from the Sheriff's Office to the Treasurer's Office, as designated by the Commissioners of St. Mary's County. The Sheriff of St. Mary's County remains among the specified officials who may examine records that must be kept by qualified organizations of proceeds and expenditures involving gaming devices.
