St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Participates in “Read Across America” with Girl Scout Troop #6756

Local Girl Scout Troop #6756 hosted a “Read Across America” event at Mother Catherine Academy last Thursday, March 2, 2017, to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss. As part of the festivities, the troop invited Corporal Angela Delozier to read books to impressionable youth.

“I chose to read 'Oh, the Places You’ll Go' by Dr. Seuss,” says Cpl. Delozier, “The book allows for a teaching moment, and is relatable to real life, law enforcement, and decision-making.” She added, “I had the pleasure of reading to the second-grade class and was able to incorporate the pillars of the D.A.R.E. program into the reading – guiding healthy choices and good decision-making.”

Hosting and facilitating this event also provided an opportunity for the Girl Scouts to showcase their leadership skills. Cpl. Delozier commented, “I was so impressed by their questions and how involved they were the entire time.”

“So be sure when you step, step with care and great tact. And remember that life's A Great Balancing Act. And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and ¾ percent guaranteed). Kid, you'll move mountains.” From Sheriff Tim Cameron and your friends at the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, thank you, Girl Scout Troop #6756 for your hospitality and warmth. “Just never forget to be dexterous and deft. And never mix up your right foot with your left. And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed.)”
