Arrests 11/23/2015

11-13-2015 – Theft – Deputy T. Wesner responded to the 45000 block of Miramar Way in California (Wal-Mart), for the report of a theft. The suspect, Karin Jeanne Kless, age 40, of Mechanicsville, attempted to exit the store without paying for merchandise. Further investigation revealed, Kless opened packages of merchandise and removed the contents.  Kless was arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. She was charged with Theft Less than $100 and Malicious Destruction of Property less than $1000. CASE# 66303-15

11-13-15 – Theft – Deputy J. Vezzosi responded to the 45000 block of Miramar Way in California (Wal-Mart), for the report of a theft. The suspect, Stacey Michelle Lowe-Graves, age 44, of Lexington Park, attempted to exit the store without paying for merchandise. Lowe-Graves was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. She was charged with Theft less than $100 and was also served an active Bench Warrant. CASE# 66383-15

11-12-15 – Handgun in Vehicle – While conducting surveillance in the area of Great Mills Road and FDR Boulevard in Lexington Park, Deputy Cole observed a vehicle fail to come to a complete stop. Subsequently, a traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle. During the traffic stop, the deputy detected what appeared to be a moderate odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The suspect, Michael Fitzgerald Dobbins, Jr., age 28, of Lexington Park, was asked to exit his vehicle. An investigation of the vehicle revealed a handgun, bullets, and an expired learner’s permit.  Dobbins was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. He was charged with Handgun in Vehicle, Handgun on or about a person, Possessing Regulated Firearm, Obliterate the Manufacturer's Identification Number on the Firearm, Driving Motor Vehicle without a License and Failure to Display License on Demand.

11-18-2015 – Violation of Protective Order – During a routine traffic stop, Deputy S. Cameron discovered there was an active protective order in place between the driver and passenger of the vehicle. The suspect, Joseph Myron Taylor, age 36, of Great Mills, was arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. He was charged with Violation of a Protective Order. CASE# 67180-15

11-18-2015 – Assault – Deputy C. Hartzell responded to a classroom at Great Mills High School, for the report of a fight. The suspect,  DaVayus Alex Barnes, age 19, of Great Mills, was involved a verbal altercation with another student during class, which escalated to a physical fight. Barnes struck the other student several times, which hindered the teacher from instructing. Barnes was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. He was charged with Second Degree Assault and Disturbing Activites at School. CASE# 67129-15

11-18-2015 – Possession – Sgt. C. Safford observed the suspect, Antonio Wendell Chase, age 29, of Lexington Park, enter the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked in the Family Dollar parking lot, located at 21703 Great Mills Road in Great Mills. A traffic stop was conducted on Chase, at which time Sgt. Safford observed Chase toss a plastic baggie with a knot under the car, believed to be marijuana. A search of the vehicle revealed a clear baggie in a purse on the passenger seat.  In the bag was a substance believed to be crack cocaine. Chase was arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. He was charged with Possession: Not Marijuana – Crack Cocaine. CASE# 67184-15

11-19-2015 – Theft – Deputy S. Cameron responded to the Mckay’s Food Store, located at 40845 Merchants Lane in Leonardtown, for the report of a shoplifter. The suspect, Tammy Nannette McGinnis, age 47, of Leonardtown, attempted to exit the store without paying for merchandise. McGinnis was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. She was charged with Theft Less than $1000. CASE# 67380-15

11-19-2015 – Assault – Deputy T. Snyder responded to the 46000 block of South Shangri-La Drive in Lexington Park, for the report of a fight. The victim alleged the suspect, Delontey Montario Butler, age 23, of Lexington Park, assaulted the victim and then fled on foot. The victim alleged the suspect responded to the victim’s residence in violation of a protective order. The victim displayed injuries consistent with the allegations. Butler was found hiding in a nearby business. He was transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital where he was treated for injuries he sustained during the assault. Upon release, he was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where he was charged with 2nd Degree Assault and Three Counts of Violation of a Protective Order. CASE# 67395-15
