Deputies Conducting Spot Checks at Ballot Boxes

 


In addition to regular patrol checks at the St. Mary’s County Early Voting Center in Hollywood, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Deputies are also conducting premise checks on the numerous ballot boxes in the community. Boxes are open to receive ballots 24/7 through Nov. 3, 2020 at 8 pm.

Ballot box locations are: Lexington Park Library, Hollywood Firehouse, Great Mills High School, Charlotte Hall Library, Leonardtown High School, Margaret Brent Middle School, Lexington Park Elementary School, Spring Ridge Middle School, Lettie Dent Elementary School, the old Board of Elections office on Tudor Hall Road in Leonardtown and at the new Board of Elections office on Hollywood Road in Leonardtown.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office encourages all eligible citizens to exercise their right to vote and to perform their civic duty by fostering a safe and secure environment for them to do so.

Sheriff's Office Conducting Patrol Checks for Early Voting

 

 

The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office is conducting regular patrol checks at the Early Voting Center at the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department, which is open to voters from 7 am to 8 pm each day through Monday, Nov. 2, 2020, to ensure safe and uneventful voting for citizens. The Sheriff's Office's goal is to secure every person's right to vote safely and without fear. Our office has been in close communication with election officials and other law enforcement agencies to learn of any plans to impede voters, and our goal is to respond swiftly if they occur. It is our intent to proactively visit polling locations in an unobtrusive way and to respond when any form of intimidation or interference takes place.

Identities Needed in Motor Vehicle Theft

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the identities of the persons pictured in a motor vehicle theft investigation. On Sunday, Oct. 25, 2020 at 2:44 am, the suspects stole a black 2004 Ford F450 Super Duty tow truck from Rt 5 Auto Sales in Mechanicsville. The suspects arrived on an unknown make of motorcycle and were last seen going north on Three Notch Road. One suspect drove off with the stolen tow truck and the other suspect followed on the motorcycle.

Investigation determined the complainant located suspected heroin hidden in the clothing of Tracy Lynn Pickeral, age 57 of Charlotte Hall. Trespassing- On October 22, 2020, Dep. Chase responded to the 21600 block of Great Mills Road in Lexington Park, for the reported trespassing. Investigation determined Shawn Michael Miles, age 28 of no fixed address, was at the business approaching customers. Miles had previously been served a notice not to trespass, and was asked several times to leave the area and he refused to do so. Miles was arrested and charged with Trespass: Private Property. Assault- On October 22, 2020, Dep. Palmer was in the 21600 block of Great Mills Road in Lexington Park, when he was advised of an assault involving a machete. Contact was made with the victim who stated Michelle Noele Dickerson, age 32 of Lexington Park, brandished a machete during an argument. Investigation determined Dickerson and the victim were involved in a verbal argument when Dickerson exited a vehicle and approached the victim carrying a machete. The machete was recovered and Dickerson was arrested and charged with Assault 1st Degree and Deadly Weapon Conceal. CASE# 65432-20

Property Destruction- On October 23, 2020, DFC. Budd responded to the 17200 block of Piney Point Road in Piney Point, for the reported property destruction. Investigation determined Christopher Paul Forrest, age 44 of Ridge, flattened the tires on the victim's vehicle and broke a passenger side mirror to the vehicle. Child Abuse/Assault/Hindering- On October 24, 2020, Dep. Salas responded to the 21300 block of Jettison Drive in Lexington Park, for the reported assault. Investigation determined Tashika Lynn Mobley, age 29 of Lexington Park, obtained a knife and threatened to stab the two juvenile victims. Mobley struck one victim in the face repeatedly, and strangled a second victim, and struck the second victim with various household objects. Visible injury was observed to both victims' faces, and the  arms, back, and neck of the second victim. When deputies first made contact with Mobley she denied the victims were in the residence and provided a false location for deputies to locate the victims. After a considerable amount of time, the victims were located and it was determined Mobley had deliberately tried to keep the victims from speaking with deputies. Mobley was arrested and charged with two counts of Assault 1st and 2nd Degree, two counts of Child Abuse, False Statement to Officer, and Obstructing and Hindering. CASE# 65874-20

Handgun in Vehicle- On October 24, 2020, Dep. Gardiner responded to the 21900 block of Three Notch Road in Lexington Park, for the reported disturbance. While on scene, Dep. Gardiner obtained information Thomas William Monteith, age 55 of Michigan, had a loaded handgun in his vehicle. The handgun was recovered and Monteith was arrested and charged with Handgun in Vehicle and Loaded Handgun in Vehicle. CASE# 65871-20

Property Destruction- On October 24, 2020, Dep. Wilson responded to the St. Mary's County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown, for the reported property destruction. Investigation determined Anthony Warren Berry, age 35 of no fixed address, purposefully destroyed the sprinkler head in his cell, flooding the cell. Trespassing- On October 24, 2020, Cpl. Beishline responded to the 16200 block of Thomas Road in Piney Point, for the reported trespassing. Investigation determined Christopher Shaun Garcia, age 26 of Virginia, was intoxicated and creating a disturbance at the residence. Garcia was told multiple times by the victim to leave the residence, and he refused to do so. Deputies on scene advised Garcia they were making arrangements for him to be transported from the scene, however Garcia was adamant he was not leaving and continued to cause a disturbance. Violate Protective Order- On October 25, 2020, Dep. Rycyzyn responded to the 45400 block of Miramar Way in California, and observed Eric Denzel Kelly, age 29 of Indian Head, talking to the victim. Longtime 911 Dispatcher Norman Pilkerton Passes Away

 

 

The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office regrets to share the news that Norman Alexander Pilkerton Jr. passed away on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020, at the age of 81. 

Pilkerton worked for the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office as a 911 emergency dispatcher for 34 years when he retired in 2001. 

During his tenure, Sheriff Wayne Pettit, in office from 1982 to 1994, chose Pilkerton to supervise all of the Sheriff's Office communications personnel. 

"Norman was an experienced and consummate professional who always looked after every deputy while providing information and dispatching calls for service," Sheriff Tim Cameron said. "Norman was an exemplary member of the Sheriff's Office team in service to his community."

Reckless Endangerment Under Investigation

 

On October 17, 2020, at approximately 4:19 a.m. deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office were investigating reports of shots fired in the area of Pacific Drive, when deputies heard several additional shots fired in the area of Forest Run Drive and Cinnamon Way in Lexington Park. Officers responded to the area and located a vehicle and one residence on Cinnamon Drive that had sustained damage from being struck by projectiles. No injuries were reported from the incident.

St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Crime Lab Technicians responded and processed the scene. Several shell casings were recovered from the area.

Identity Needed for Theft Suspects

 

Dec. 17, 2020 update: The suspects have been identified. 

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the identities of the persons pictured in a theft investigation. On Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020 at 7:21 pm, the female suspect skipped scanning items at the self-checkout register at the California Walmart store while the male suspect placed items in a cart and they proceeded past all points of sale.
