On March 16, 2016, at approximately 9:00 A.M., deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to an assault on the 46000 block of Lucca Way in Lexington Park. Upon arrival, one adult female victim was found suffering from multiple injuries, including a stab wound to her torso. The victim was transported via Maryland State Police Helicopter “Trooper 7” to Prince George’s County Shock Trauma, where her injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.
Detectives and Crime Lab Technicians from the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) responded and assumed the investigation, which revealed the assault stemmed from a domestic-related dispute.
A suspect, Nicole Tanya Middleton, age 29, of California, MD, was quickly identified by detectives. The investigation determined Middleton did not live at the victim’s residence and had arrived uninvited prior to the assault. Shortly after her arrival, a physical fight ensued during which she produced a knife and stabbed the victim. Middleton fled the scene prior to police arrival and was unable to be located.
On March 17, 2016, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division located Middleton and transported her to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. She was charged with First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, and Trespassing.
