Vice/Narcotics Arrest

Deputies from the Lexington Park COPS Unit increased their patrols in a specific area of Great Mills Road, due to a recent increase in calls for service. During their patrols, they observed a vehicle occupied in the rear area of an establishment. Deputies contacted the operator and sole occupant and immediately detected an odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle.

As deputies attempted to continue their investigation, the operator, later identified as Dione Jamar Davis (Age 26 of Lexington Park) placed the vehicle into drive and fled the scene. During his escape, suspect Davis nearly struck a pedestrian and a chase ensued. Suspect Davis fled into a residence in the 46000 block of Valley Court. Deputies surrounded the residence and made contact with an occupant. At that time, suspect Davis leaped from a top floor balcony and was met by Sheriff’s Office K-9 “Nero” and apprehended. Deputies from the COPS Unit and Patrol Division discovered a quantity of marijuana the suspect had discarded and requested assistance from the Vice/Narcotics Division.

Detectives obtained two search and seizure warrants which were executed on the above-mentioned residence and the vehicle suspect Davis was operating. Numerous items of evidence were recovered to include multiple individual baggies of marijuana, packaging material and nearly $300.00 in cash. Body armor in the form of a “bulletproof vest” and a cell phone was also recovered. Suspect Davis was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment before being formally charged. Additional charges are pending a review with State’s Attorney Richard D. Fritz.
