Identity Needed for Vandalism Suspect

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the identity of the person pictured in a vandalism investigation. On Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 9:36 am, the suspect was confronted about attempting to steal an item of clothing at the Family Dollar store in Lexington Park. She then knocked over a display of items, damaging the shelving and the items on it. The suspect was last seen walking across Great Mills Road and into a tan four-door sedan.

Barricade in Great Mills Resolved

 

On May 18, 2021, deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 45900 block of Indian Way in Great Mills to attempt service of an outstanding warrant.   The male suspect, age 22 of Great Mills, was armed with several edged weapons and refused to exit the residence and barricaded himself in a rear bedroom. A barricade was declared, and members of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Critical Incident Negotiations Team (CINT) and the Emergency Services Team (EST) responded to the scene. Due to the proximity of a nearby school, St. Mary’s County Public Schools were notified and apprised of the situation.

After several hours of negotiations, the suspect surrendered to deputies on scene and was taken into custody.

False Statement to Officer- On May 13, 2021, DFC. Lawrence responded to the 20500 block of Treetop Road in Lexington Park, for the reported individual shot. Investigation determined Deborah Lynn Jerdon, age 53 of no fixed address, was outside the residence attempting to make contact with individuals inside. Jerdon ultimately contacted emergency communications reporting an individual inside the residence had been shot. A lengthy investigation determined no one was injured inside the residence and Jerson was arrested and charged with False Statement to Officer. CASE# 25689-21

Assault/Reckless Endangerment- On May 14, 2021, Dep. Jerew responded to the 21600 block of Great Mills Road in Lexington Park, for the reported assault. Investigation determined Kirk Vondel Swales, age 38 of California, was in a dispute with the victim while the parties were in a vehicle. Swales grabbed the steering wheel while the victim was driving, deliberately causing the vehicle to collide with a curb. The vehicle sustained significant damage from the collision. Burglary- On May 15, 2021, Dep. N. Hill responded to the 22600 block of Van Wert Lane in Leonardtown, for the reported burglary.  Investigation determined Jalen Juwan Scayles, age 26 of California, climbed the fence surrounding the business to enter a secure area and retrieved his vehicle without paying the required release fee. On Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 3:20 pm, the suspect stole the victim’s red and black Mongoose bicycle from the garage of a home at Westmeath Condominiums in California. The suspect’s name is possibly “Jimmy.”

Shooting in Lexington Park Under Investigation

 

On May 16, 2021, at 12:35 p.m. deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 21800 block of Three Notch Road in Lexington Park, for the reported shots fired. A male victim, age 41 of Lexington Park, was located suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim was flown to an area trauma center for treatment and later released.

Detectives and crime lab personnel from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene and continued the investigation. Identity Needed for Theft Suspect

 

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the identity of the person shown in a theft investigation. On Sunday, May 2, 2021 at 6:10 pm and again on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 2:55 pm, the suspect scanned items at the self-checkout register at the California Walmart store, but did not pay for the merchandise. The suspect then proceeded past the last point of sale when he was stopped by loss prevention staff. The suspect fled the store on both occasions before he could be identified.

Burglary: On May 11, 2021, Deputy Richard Wilhelmi responded to the 45300 block of Barefoot Drive in California for the report of a burglary. Arriving on the scene, Deputy Wilhelmi located Meghann Emily Abraham, 30 of California, in the area of the residence which is in the process of being sold. The basement door of the home was found open with Abraham's personal belongings inside. In addition, damage was observed to the home's windows where screens had been removed. Abraham was arrested, transported to the St. Mary's County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown and charged with Fourth-Degree Burglary to a Dwelling and Malicious Destruction of Property less than $1,000. Violation of Protective Order: On May 12, 2021, DFC Shawn Shelko was informed of a possible violation of a protective order and initiated an investigation. DFC Shelko contacted the victim and determined that James Allen Michael Schaeffer, 38 of Union Bridge, sent numerous texts to the victim and attempted phone calls to the victim in violation of a court-ordered protective order. Assault: On May 13, 2021, Cpl. Brian Connelly responded to the 17700 block of Whitestone Drive in Tall Timbers for a key fob panic alarm. Cpl. Connelly made contact with the victim who advised that Michael Peter Iminski, 33 of Tall Timbers, were in an argument which escalated into an assault. The victim advised that Iminski pulled the victim's shirt so forcefully that it ripped off the victim's body. Iminski then picked up a wooden paddle, reached over the top of the victim's head and placed the paddle against the victim's throat. Iminski began to squeeze the paddle handle against the victim's throat strangling the victim to the point of gasping for air. The victim opened a window in an attempt to get help when Iminski pushed the victim to the ground and again placed the paddle against the victim's throat. The victim attempted to use a phone to call for help when Iminski shattered the phone and threw it into a dog bowl full of water. Cpl. Connelly observed numerous signs of injury on the victim and the total value of household items damaged during the assault was $2,200. Iminski was arrested and charged with First-Degree Assault; Second-Degree Assault; Malicious Destruction of Property and False Imprisonment. Case # 25528-21

Investigation determined Faizal Mohamed Abdullahi, age 34 of Dameron, assaulted the victim by throwing items at the victim, and striking the victim in the head with an iPad. Identities Needed for Burglary Suspects

 

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the identities of the persons shown in a burglary investigation. On Sunday, May 2, 2021 at 6:56 pm, the suspects broke into a building and damaged a window at Maryland Rock on Abells Wharf Road in Leonardtown. The suspects fled in three different vehicles: a black pickup truck, a black passenger car and a third vehicle of unknown make or color.
