UDATE: On March 18, 2022, Rylan John Somerville, age 19 of Lexington Park, was located and arrested. Somerville was charged with the following:

Murder Second Degree
Attempted First Degree Murder
Attempted Second Degree Murder
Home Invasion
Firearm Use/Felony Violent Crime
Armed Robbery
Assault First Degree
Assault Second Degree
Rhodes and Somerville remain incarcerated at the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown, on a no-bond status.
UPDATE: The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the whereabouts of Rylan John Somerville, age 19 of Lexington Park. Somerville is wanted in connection with the murder that occurred on March 10, 2022, in Lexington Park. Somerville is a black male, 5’7” and weighs 215 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. Somerville is currently wanted for the charge of Murder First Degree and various other charges.

Original Release: On March 10, 2022, at 9:27 p.m. deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 45700 block of Oregon Way in Lexington Park, for the reported home invasion with shots fired. Deputies arrived on scene and located a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Lifesaving measures were attempted but the victim was pronounced deceased on scene. The victim has been identified as James Brian Thompson, age 55 of Lexington Park. Detectives and Crime Lab personnel from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene and continued the investigation.
