On December 13, 2018, two area
businesses, and one local fire department reported they had received bomb
threats. The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s
Office responded and checked the buildings, and no devices were located. At this time, the bomb threats which were
received via email, appear to be part of a national trend to extort money from
businesses and are not considered credible threats. The St. Mary’s County
Sheriff’s Office encourages the public to remain vigilant and to promptly
report suspicious activity.
