Mechanicsville Woman Killed in Crash

On March 19, 2020 at approximately 1:29 am, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies responded to a single motor vehicle collision with CPR in progress at the 39000 block of Golden Beach Road in Charlotte Hall. Due to the injuries sustained, the Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene.

Preliminary investigation determined a 2019 Nissan Sentra, operated by Christina Marie Maier, 30 of Mechanicsville, was traveling north on Golden Beach Road when the vehicle lost control around a curve in the roadway. Maier overcorrected the steering, left the roadway and struck a ditch and then a tree, which overturned the vehicle. Maier was transported to University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata via ambulance with lifesaving measures performed. Maier was later pronounced deceased by medical personnel.

Identity Needed for Burglary Suspect

March 20, 2020 update: The suspect has been identified. Thank you. 

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the identity of the person pictured in a burglary investigation. On Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 1:25 am, the suspect unlawfully entered Spring Ridge Middle School in Lexington Park after trying to open several doors.

Obstructing and Hindering- On March 11, 2020, Dep. Forinash was assisting another officer on a traffic stop in the 21700 block of North Essex Drive in Lexington Park, when Sandra NMN King, age 41 of St. Leonard, arrived on scene and caused a disturbance. King began yelling at deputies on scene.  King tried to intervene on the traffic stop, and was ordered to cease her behavior.  King continued the behavior, and was subsequently arrested. Alter Drug Test- On March 9, 2020, Dep. Henry responded to the St. Mary's County Detention and Rehabilitation Center, for the reported altered drug test. Investigation determined Brian Christopher Hancock, age 41 of no fixed address, reported to the detention center and provided a urine sample as part of his pretrial requirements. Violation of Protective Order- On March 9, 2020, Dep. Wynnyk responded to the 37700 block of Waterloo Road in Coltons Point, for the reported disturbance. Dep. Disorderly Conduct/Disturbing the Peace/Fail to Obey- On March 9, 2020, Dep. Salas responded to the the 18400 block of Point Lookout Road in Park Hall for the reported disturbance. Upon arrival Ashley Nicole Tippett, age 27 of Park Hall, was observed yelling and causing a commotion while banging on the outside of a residence.  Tippett was ordered to cease her behavior, however she refused and continued her behavior, which disturbed numerous neighbors. Assault- On March 11, 2020, Dep. Edwards responded to the 21500 block of Great Mills Road in Lexington Park, for the reported alarm activation. An individual was located, and provided deputies on scene with a false name. The individual was ultimately identified to be Chazze Le Marko Hall, age 29 of no fixed address. Hall had an outstanding warrant through Calvert County. Hall then fled on foot from deputies on scene.  Deputies pursued Hall, and while being taken into custody, Hall kicked Dep. Citizens Encouraged to Utilize Online Crime Reporting

In order to promote social distancing and sanitary hygiene in response to ongoing coronavirus concerns, Sheriff Tim Cameron and the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office encourage the public to report crimes online.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Online Reporting System (COLRS) can be used to report crimes where there is no suspect information or other investigative leads. Crimes can be reported online at www.firstsheriff.com.

The following crimes can be reported:

A patrol supervisor regularly monitors the reporting system’s inbox and assigns deputies as appropriate. A police report/case number will be provided.

Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision Under Investigation

On March 12, 2020, at approximately 11:13 a.m. deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 24700 block of Three Notch Road, in the area of Sotterley Road, in Hollywood, for the reported motor vehicle collision.  Deputies arrived on scene and located two vehicles involved in the collision.  The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and continued the investigation.

Preliminary investigation determined a 2016 Ford Escape operated by Jack Martin Hughes, age 79, of Mechanicsville, was traveling north on Three Notch Road, when for unknown reasons Hughes stopped in the roadway while the traffic light was green. A 2004 International truck operated by Norman Lawrence Buckler, age 36, of Mechanicsville, was unable to stop and struck the rear of Hughes’ vehicle.  Emergency personnel removed Hughes from the vehicle and attempted life-saving measures on scene. Hughes was transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. No incapacitating injuries were reported for Buckler.
