Press Release -- VICE NARCOTICS

Detectives began making undercover purchases of cocaine from Javon Lyzell Dickens (Age 24 of California, MD) in various locations throughout St. Mary’s County. A search and seizure warrant was obtained and executed on his California residence. Detectives recovered marijuana, related paraphernalia, “crack cocaine” (street value $1,300), a digital scale with cocaine residue, more than $300.00 in cash and two cellular phones. A 2002 Ford Explorer was also seized.   Suspect Dickens is currently out on bail awaiting a trial for “Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine and Marijuana” which is set for October 13th, 2015 in the Circuit Court for St. Mary’s County. A third suspect, Joseph Franklin Sullivan (Age 20 of No Fixed) was inside the residence and a quantity of cocaine was recovered from his shoe. Inquiries should be directed to Captain Daniel D. 9-9-15 Burglary – Unknown suspect(s) removed property from a residence on the 46000 block of Sue Drive in Lexington Park.  

9-10-15 Recovered Stolen Vehicle – A vehicle without tags was located and confirmed stolen in the 46000 block of Midway Drive in Lexington Park. 

Arrests (August 28 to September 3)

Theft – On August 26, 2015, Corporal D. Snyder responded to the 37000 block of Waterloo Road in Coltons Point, for a reported theft. The victim alleged, Hayden P. Cabada, age 19, of Coltons Point, stole and fraudulently cashed a check from the victim's checkbook.. Cabada was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. He was charged with two counts of Forgery and Theft under $1000.00. CASE# 50042-15

False Statement – On August 27, 2015, Deputy D. Lawrence responded to the 21000 block of Indian Bridge Road in California, for a reported theft.  Lisa M. Youngblood, age 21, of California, alleged cash was stolen from her residence. Further investigation revealed, Youngblood’s cash was not stolen, and Youngblood gave a false statement to deputies. Youngblood was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. She was charged with False Statement to Officer. CASE# 50345-15

Theft – On August 29, 2015, Deputy T. Siciliano responded to the 45000 block of Miramar Way (Walmart), for a reported theft. The suspect, Shonata R. Harris, age 25, of Great Mills, attempted to walk out of Wal-Mart without paying for her merchandise. Harris was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. She was charged with Theft Less than $100.00. CASE# 50682-15

Disorderly Conduct – On August 30, 2015, Corporal J. Somerville responded to the area of 40000 Kavanagh Road in Mechanicsville, for a fight-in-progress. The suspect, Tracy Hemsley, Jr., age 21 of Lexington Park, became disorderly while being questioned. Hemsley was asked several times to stop yelling and using obscenities. He continued to scream, was placed under arrest, and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. He was charged with Disorderly Conduct. CASE# 50806-15

Trespassing – On August 28, 2015, Deputy A. Beishline and Corporal K. Nelson observed a suspicious suspect on the property of Great Mills High School. Further investigation revealed the suspect, Kaevon O. Jefferson, age 18, of Lexington Park, did not have a reason to be at Great Mills High School. Deputies advised Jefferson that he must leave the property and not return, or he would be subject to arrest. At approximately 2:40 p.m. the same officers observed Jefferson in the same location during their patrol.  While being placed under arrest, Jefferson tried to flee and resist. Jefferson was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. He was charged with Trespassing and Resist(ing) a Lawful Arrest. CASE# 50494-15

Domestic Assault – On August 28, 2015, Deputy G. Mushchette responded to 46000 Pleasant Drive in Lexington Park, for a reported disturbance. The victim alleged suspect Roshaundra P. Dyson, age 28, of Lexington Park, punched the victim in the face and scratched the victim. The victim displayed signs of an injury consistent with the allegations. Dyson was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. She was charged with First Degree and Second Degree Assault. CASE# 50447-15

Domestic Assault – On August 31, 2015, Deputy D. Potter responded to the 18000 block of Saint Jeromes Neck Road in Dameron, for a reported domestic assault. The victim alleged suspect, Daniel Dean, age 39, of Dameron, put the victim in a ‘choke hold’ during an argument. The victim appeared to have fresh scratches and injuries consistent with the allegations. Further investigation revealed contraband consistent with drug use in the home. Dean was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. Dean was charged with Second Degree Assault and Possession of a Control Dangerous Substance of Schedule II: Cocaine. CASE# 50980-15

Domestic Assault – On August 31, 2015, Corporal K. Moritz responded to the 24000 block of Hollywood Road in Hollywood, for a reported domestic assault. The victim alleged the suspect, Anthony R. Rey, age 33, of Hollywood, punched the victim in the lower back and the jaw. The victim displayed injuries consistent with the allegations. Rey was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. He was charged with Second Degree Assault. CASE# 51014-15

Violation Protective Order – On August 31, 2015, Deputy S. LeFave responded to the 18000 block of Point Lookout Road in Park Hall, for a reported theft. Further investigation revealed the theft was a civil dispute. The victim alleged the suspect, Brian K. Jordan, age 40, of Great Mills, violated a protective order by contacting the victim through a text message. Jordan was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. He was charged with Violation Protective Order. CASE# 51044-15

Domestic Assault – On September 1, 2015, Deputy G. Knott responded to the 46000 block of Shining Willow Lane in Lexington Park, for a reported domestic assault. The victim alleged, Tonya Albers, age 41, of Lexington Park, struck the victim with a chair several times. The victim displayed injuries consistent with the allegations. Albers was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. She was charged with Second Degree Assault. CASE# 51409-15.

Violation Protective Order – On September 2, 2015, Deputy J. Bare responded to 44000 Hunting Meadows Court in Callaway in regards to a Violation of Protective Order. The victim alleged the suspect, Earl Thomas D. Granger, age 24, of Great Mills, contacted the victim via telephone on several different occasions. Granger was arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. He was charged with two counts of Violation Protective Order. CASE# 51580-15

Theft – On August 2, 2015, Deputy D. Holdsworth responded to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center, for a reported theft. The victim alleged the suspect, Francis X. Hill, age 19, and of no fixed address, was using his phone account without permission. Hill was charged with a criminal citation for Theft less than $100.00. CASE# 51628-15

St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Lexington Park COPs Unit and Traffic Safety Unit will be conducting traffic enforcement at Gate 1 and Gate 2 at Naval Air Station Patuxent River.

Members of the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Lexington Park COPs Unit and Traffic Safety Unit will be conducting traffic enforcement at Gate 1 and Gate 2 at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland. This enforcement effort is in response to two primary concerns.

First, deputies will be looking for vehicles blocking the intersection and the northbound lanes of travel on Route 235. Drivers blocking the intersection while attempting to turn into the base from the southbound lanes of Route 235 or while crossing the intersection from Route 246 will be cited. Maryland Traffic Law Article 21-1003 states: "A person may not stop, stand, or park a vehicle in an intersection." This violation is a $70 FINE AND 0 POINTS.

Second, deputies will be looking for motorists traveling southbound on Route 235 and performing an illegal U-Turn just south of Gate 2 to enter Gate 2 from the northbound lanes of Route 235. Maryland Traffic Law Article 21-201 states: "The driver of any vehicle shall obey the instructions of any traffic control device." in this case, the No U-Turn sign being the traffic control device. This violation is a $90 FINE AND 1 POINT.

Deputies will be conducting traffic enforcement at various times over a period of several days. Sheriff Tim Cameron and the men and women of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office ask you to do your part and obey all traffic laws. We are enforcing a ZERO TOLERANCE OPERATION, and ALL VIOLATORS will be ticketed. These violations cause an inconvenience and unnecessary delay to travelers on Route 235 not entering NAS Patuxent River, but more importantly—they create a serious public safety issue.

Suspect Wanted for Armed Robbery at Great Mills Family Dollar

On September 7, 2015, at 8:10 p.m.. St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies responded to the Great Mills Family Dollar for the report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival, deputies determined one suspect armed with a handgun, demanded money from the clerk. The suspect fled the business on foot.  Detective(s) from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division responded and assumed the investigation. 

The suspect is believed to be a white male of small to medium build.

Arrests (August 17 - August 25)

Theft – During a patrol on August 22, 2015, Corporal D. Corcoran spotted a white male whom he confirmed had an outstanding warrant.  Suspect John R. Townshend, age 56, of no fixed address, was placed under arrest. Further investigation revealed stolen merchandise from Sheetz and Auto Zone. Drug paraphernalia was also in Townshend’s possession. Townshend was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. He was charged with Possession with Intent to use Drug Paraphernalia. CASE# 49236-15

Possession of Contraband – On August 24, 2015, Johnathan W. Thownsend, age 21, of Mechanicsville was discharged from an Inpatient Treatment program.  Subsequently, being transported back to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. During an intake search, a bottle of urine was recovered. Thownsend was charged with Knowingly Possessing Contraband. CASE# 49556-15

Drug Possession – On August 25, 2015, Deputy D. Holdsworth initiated a traffic stop in the area of South Shangri-La Drive and FDR Boulevard.  Further investigation revealed, Darien Marcel Bush, age 28, of Leonardtown, was driving on a suspended license.  A K9 search of the vehicle revealed items used to store controlled dangerous substances. Bush was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. He was charged with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS): not Marijuana (Heroin) and Using Drug Paraphernalia to store a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS): not Marijuana (Heroin).  CASE# 49688-15

The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office will honor the funeral of Harris County Deputy Sheriff Darren Goforth at 10:00 a.m. this morning by activating emergency lights on patrol cars during a moment of silence.The community can participate in this nationwide moment of silence by activating their headlights or flashes for one minute. The National Sheriffs’ Association joins the grassroots effort to show support for law enforcement.
