ARRESTS 9-10-14

THREAT OF ARSON – On September 3, 2014, Deputy Murphy responded to residence on Allston Lane for threats of arson. The victim alleged suspect Chad Hunter Hall, 25, of Waldorf, threatened to burn his home down during an argument. Hall was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. He was charged with Threat of Arson.

VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER – On September 4, 2014, a victim reported suspect Cornelius Fenwick, 37, of California, called the victim in violation of an active order of protection. The investigation revealed Fenwick called the victim via a third party from the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. Fenwick was charged with the violation by DFC Rogers.

DOMESTIC ASSSAULT – On September 7, 2014, Corporal Corcoran responded to a residence on Horseshoe Road in Clements, for a reported assault. The victim alleged suspect James Francis Tennyson, 55, Clements, struck the victim in the face with his fist during an argument. Corporal Corcoran observed fresh evidence of injury on the victim’s face. Tennyson was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. He was charged with 2^nd Degree Assault.

1^ST DEGREE ASSAULT – On September 7, 2014, Corporal Corcoran responded to a residence on Indian Way in Great Mills, for a reported assault. The victim alleged suspect Kaebriana Ricole Fisher, 20, of Leonardtown, struck the victim with her hands during an argument. Fisher then grabbed a knife and slashed the victim’s vehicle tires. When the victim confronted Fisher at the vehicle, she came after the victim with the knife. The victim was able to take the knife away from Fisher and call 9 1 1. Fisher was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. She was charged with 1^st Degree Assault, 2^nd Degree Assault, and Property Destruction.

ASSAULT – On September 8, 2014, Deputy Steinbach responded to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center for a fight between inmates. The investigation revealed suspect Joseph William Medley III, 31, of Lexington Park, assaulted another inmate during a dispute. Medley was charged with 2^nd Degree Assault and Assault on DOC employee (inmate).

9-8-14 THEFT - A victim, who resides in the 17000 block of Piney Point Road, reported unknown suspect(s) stole property from his vehicle. Case #48298-14

9-8-14 BURGLARY MOTOR VEHICLE - A victim reported unknown suspect(s) entered his vehicle while it was parked in Millison Plaza and stole property. Case remains open. Case #48280-14

9-8-14 BURGLARY - A victim, who resides in the 20000 block of Hermanville Road, reported unknown suspect(s) entered his home, however nothing appeared to have been stolen. Case remains open. Case #48307-14

9-9-14 BURGLARY - A victim, who resides on North Essex Drive in Lexington Park, reported unknown suspect(s) entered his residence and stole property. Case remains open. Case #48378-14

SMCSO, FBI, & State Fire Marshall's Conducting Training Exercise

On September 15th and 16th, 2014, members of the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Maryland State Fire Marshall's Office will be conducting an Improvised Explosive Joint Training Exercise in Piney Point, Maryland.

Residents in the area may hear loud blasts between the hours of 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM. These controlled blasts are a part of the training exercise and pose no danger to the public.

9-6-14 Motor Vehicle Accident fly-out - Deputy Lafave responded to the area of Poplar Ridge Road in Lexington Park for a vehicle accident. The investigation revealed the driver, male, age 38, was traveling on Poplar Ridge Road when he lost control and struck a telephone pole. He was flown to an area hospital as a precaution.  9-6-14 BURGLARY - Unknown suspect(s) entered 2 recreational vehicles belonging to Economy RV's located in the 29000 block of Three Notch Road. Nothing appeared to have been stolen. Case #48039-14

9-7-14 THEFT - A victim reported unknown suspect(s) stole her wallet after she left it unattended in the shopping cart at BJ's. Case remains open and is assigned to Deputy Roszell. Case #48131-14

9-8-14 Motor Vehicle Accident fly-out - DFC Jaime Davis responded to the area of Pin Cushion Road and Sunnyside Road for a vehicle accident involving a motorcycle. Investigation revealed the driver of the motorcycle, male, age 53, lost control of the motorcycle and left he roadway. He was transported to an area hospital as a precaution. Case #48188-14

 

 

Detective Asks WITNESS to Call Regarding Town Creek Robbery

Sometime between Thursday, September 4th, and Friday, September 5th, a witness called SMCSO CRIME SOLVERS with information which may be important to the home invasion armed robbery of a 95 year old woman and her care provider in the Town Creek neighborhood.

The caller reported seeing a red pick-up truck parked at the end of Town Creek Drive prior to the robbery.

UPDATE: 3 Arrested for Robbery of Elderly Woman in Town Creek

UPDATE 9-6-13:

On September 5, 2014, detectives arrested three suspects responsible for the burglary to an occupied residence on Town Creek Dr., Lexington Park, Md.  Information was obtained during the investigation a former caretaker had recently been terminated from employment and may have been involved in the incident.  The employee, Jessica L. Johnson was located at a hotel in Charles County and a search and seizure warrant was executed by CID detectives at that location.  Following the execution of the search and seizure warrant, information was obtained indicating property stolen from the burglary was being stored at a residence in Newburg, Maryland. A separate search and seizure warrant was executed at that residence with assistance from detectives from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office. Items related to the burglary were located at the residence.

Jessica L. Johnson, age 24, of Mechanicsville, Md., Johnny B. Young, Jr., age 27, of no fixed address and William J. Gross, age 60 of Newburg were arrested and each was charged with 1^st Degree Burglary, Armed Robbery, Unlawful Detention, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, 1^st Degree Assault, 2^nd Degree Assault and Theft $1,000 to $10,000.  The suspects were transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and incarcerated pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

Sex Offender Arrested - Uber

On September 5, 2014, Detective Corporal William Raddatz of the Criminal Investigations Division, Sex Offender Compliance Unit, located and arrested Jeremy J. Uber, age 29, of Hughesville, Maryland. Uber was charged with knowingly fail to register as a sex offender as required and knowingly providing false information of a material fact (False Address) to the registry.

Uber was released from the Calvert County Detention Center in June 2014. Upon his release, Uber failed to register as required and had provided an address on Scott Circle in Mechanicsville to authorities in Calvert County.  A check of that location revealed the address was non-existent.

Uber was incarcerated in the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

Suspect Hits Deputy with Vehicle

ASSAULT ON POLICE OFFICER - On August 22, 2014, Deputy Schultz responded to the Food Lion parking located on Alton Lane in California, after a citizen reported individuals in a vehicle possibly smoking drugs. Deputy Schultz located the vehicle, a blue Acura RL, and approached the vehicle. The driver, later identified as Wayne Aloyious Jordan JR., 24, of Great Mills, quickly threw something into the passenger side of the vehicle. Jordan then put the vehicle in reverse and accelerated rapidly striking another parked vehicle. Jordan placed the vehicle in drive and accelerated toward Deputy Schultz striking Deputy Schultz. Jordan continued forward striking another parked vehicle. Additional deputies arrived and attempted to stop Jordan's vehicle. Jordan refused to stop and continued to drive in a dangerous manner through the parking lot. Jordan's vehicle struck 2 more parked vehicles before coming to a stop. Jordan then fled on foot. He was apprehended a short time later by deputies. A K9 alerted for the presence of a controlled dangerous substance during a subsequent scan of Jordan's vehicle. A large bag containing several smaller bags of suspected marijuana was found inside the vehicle. Also found inside the vehicle were various items of stolen property. Jordan and a passenger in the vehicle, identified as Steven Michael Ryan, 24, of Lexington Park, were placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. Jordan was charged with 1st Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Assault on Law Enforcement, Possession Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession Paraphernalia, and Property Destruction Over $1,000. Ryan was charged with Possession Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession Paraphernalia. Deputy Schultz sustained minor injuries. Case #45472-14

It is with great sadness, Sheriff Tim Cameron and the men and women of the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office announce the passing of Retired Deputy Sheriff Edward Healy on September 2, 2014.

Visitation will be held at Brinsfield Funeral Home Monday, September 8, 2014 from 5 PM to 8 PM.

Services will be held at the Immaculate Hear of Mary Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 10 AM.
