Death Investigation - Mechanicsville

Mechanicsville, Maryland - On August 16, 2014, at 8:19 PM, deputies responded to a private residence for the report of a person deceased inside the home. On arrival, deputies located a 33 year old, male, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.  The Criminal Investigations Division was contacted, responded to the scene, and assumed the investigation.

 

Detectives determined the deceased’s family had been unable to contact him over a short period of time. Family members contacted another relative who lives in the area to check on him. The relative responded to the residence and after getting no response at the door, forced entry into the home. The relative found the deceased in the living room and called police. The deceased was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore where an autopsy will be performed.  Foul play is not suspected at this time in the investigation.

Arrests 8-18-14

DOMESTIC ASSAULT – On August 12, 2014, Deputy Teague responded to a residence on Great Mills Court for a reported domestic assault. The victim alleged suspect Delontey Montario Butler, 21, of Hollywood, attacked the victim causing multiple injuries. Butler was located and placed under arrest. He was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and charged with 2^nd Degree Assault.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT/ASSAULT – On August 13, 2014, Deputy Lafave responded to a residence on Winding Way in Lexington Park, for a reported fight in progress. The investigation revealed suspect Ashley Marie Moore, 30, of Lexington Park, pushed one victim and spat in the face of a second during an argument. While conducting the investigation, Moore refused to stop yelling profanity. She was placed under arrest after she ignored repeated orders to stop. Moore was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and charged with 2 COUNTS of 2^nd Degree Assault and Disorderly Conduct.

1^st DEGREE ASSAULT – On August 15, 2014, Deputy Pontorno responded to a residence on Eric Road in Lexington Park, for the report of a subject with a knife. The victim alleged suspect Robert Craig O’Reilly, 33, of Lexington Park, chased him in the parking lot with a knife. O’Reilly then threw the knife in the victim’s direction. The suspect was located and placed under arrest. He was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and charged with 1^st and 2^nd Degree Assault and Reckless Endangerment.

VIOLATION PROTECTIVE ORDER – On August 16, 2014, DFC Rogers responded to a residence in the 20000 block of point Lookout Road in Great Mills, to serve a protective order on Joseph Aloysius Curtis, 50, of Great Mills. After serving Curtis, Curtis walked off of the property and called the petitioner in the protective order, while DFC Rogers was still on the scene. The order specified Curtis was to have no contact with the petitioner.  Curtis was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. He was charged with Violation Protective Order.

Suspect Charged in Rape Case

Lexington Park, Maryland - On August 16, 2014, Sheriff’s Office Patrol units responded to a private residence for the report of a sexual assault. Deputies arrived on the scene and made contact with an acquaintance (witness) of the victim who stated the adult female victim had been transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital.  Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division were contacted, responded to the hospital, and assumed the investigation.

Detectives determined the female victim and a friend (witness) had been at a local bar where they met three males.  The victim and her friend (witness) left the bar with the three males and went to an apartment on Hilton Drive in Lexington Park.  Upon arriving at the apartment the victim was provided a glass of wine by the suspect. The victim subsequently passed out.   A short time later, the witness was unable to locate the victim and began checking the residence.  The witness attempted to check a bedroom but discovered the door had been locked.  After yelling the victim’s name several times and attempting to open the door, the suspect exited the room. The witness entered the room and discovered the victim unresponsive and her clothing removed.

During an interview with detectives, the victim recalled drinking a glass of wine before feeling her body become heavy and then everything went dark. She did not recall anything else until she heard her friend yelling her name.

 

Detectives executed a search and seizure warrant at the residence where the incident occurred and recovered several items of evidence.  The suspect, identified as Omni A. Wallace, age 31 of Lexington Park, Maryland, was later located and placed under arrest.  Omni was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center, charged with 2^nd Degree Rape and incarcerated on a $35,000 bond.  Omni posted bond and was subsequently released from commitment.

8-17-14 CHILD NEGLECT - A 2 year old male was found outside in the area of 46860 Hilton Run Drive. The father who was located in a nearby apartment, believed the toddler's mother had taken him with her. Case remains open and is assigned to DFC Rogers. Case #44615-14

8-18-14 ASSAULT - A male victim reported he was assaulted by 2 unidentified black male suspects while he was sitting outside with his family on Eric Road in Lexington Park. The victim had an argument with the 2 suspects earlier in the day. He sustained minor injuries. Case remains open. Case #44683-14

PATROL SOLVES VEHICLE BURGLARY

Lexington Park, Maryland - On August 7, 2014, a victim entered her vehicle to leave for work when she discovered her vehicle had been burglarized and a TomTom brand GPS unit had been stolen. The ignition had been severely damaged in an attempt to steal the vehicle . Deputy Cole responded for the report. During Deputy Cole's investigation he learned the GPS unit had been pawned by a suspect identified as Malik Sharon Jordan, 18, of Lexington Park. Deputy Cole located Jordan at his residence and recovered additional evidence he had committed the crime. Jordan was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was charged with Rogue and Vagabond, Property Destruction, Theft $1,000 to $10,000, and Theft Under $1,000.

On Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 5:40 PM, the suspects pictured below passed counterfeit $100 bills at the Wawa located at 27605 Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville. Each suspect, in separate transactions, used a counterfeit $100 bill to make small purchases and received true US currency in change. They had committed a similar offense 15 minutes earlier at the Wawa located in Charlotte Hall.

 

They were operating what appears to be a green 90's model Ford Thunderbird with District of Columbia registration.

Arrests 8-13-14

TRESPASSING – On August 7, 2014, Deputy Rogers responded to the California Walmart for a reported trespassing. Loss prevention employees observed suspect Darvin Wynn York, 29, of California, on the property of the business in violation of a notice not to trespass. Deputy Rogers located York in the parking lot and he was charged with the violation by Criminal Citation.

ALCOHOL VIOLATION – On August 7, 2014, Deputy Al Beishline assigned to the Lexington Park COPs UNIT, observed suspect Kevin Jerome Chase, 44, of Lexington Park, consuming an alcoholic beverage on the public sidewalk located on Great Mills Road. Chase was charged with the violation by Criminal Citation.

ALCOHOL VIOLATION – On August 8, 2014, Deputy Al Beishline assigned to the Lexington Park COPs UNIT, observed suspect Francis Stefan Miles, 50, of Lexington Park, consuming an alcoholic beverage in the parking lot adjacent to Canopy Liquors on Great Mills Road. Miles was charged with the violation by Criminal Citation.

TRESPASSING – On August 8, 2014, Deputy Krum assigned to the Lexington Park COPs UNIT, responded to the Essence Beauty Salon for a reported theft. The investigation revealed suspect Robert Imerie Blackistone, 51, of no fixed address, received a haircut, refused to pay for the service, and exited the business. Deputy Krun located Blackistone nearby and placed him under arrest. Blackistone was intoxicated and on the property in violation of a notice not to trespass as well. Blackistone was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and charged with Theft Under $100 and Trespassing Private Property.

ASSAULT – On August 9, 2014, Deputy Steinbach responded to a residence on Valley Court for a reported assault. Two victims alleged suspect Rache Tornell Williams, 21, of Lexington Park, assaulted them during an argument over money and alcohol. Deputy Steinbach observed evidence of injury consistent with the allegations made by both victims. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival but was located a short distance away. Williams was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. She was charged with 2 COUNTS of 2^nd Degree Assault.

PROPERTY DESTRUCTION/RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT – On August 9, 2014, Corporal Connelly responded to a residence located in the 22000 block of Point Lookout Road, for reported property destruction in progress. The investigation revealed suspect Michelle Ellen Ann Waro, 41, of Lexington Park, became angry with relatives at the residence and began throwing landscaping rocks through the windows of the home damaging property. Several victims inside the residence ran from room to room to avoid being struck by the incoming bricks. In all, Waro threw bricks damaging 9 residential windows and both front windshields of a 2004 Ford truck and a 2009 Ford truck. The estimated damage was valued at over $7,000. Waro was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. She was charged with Property Destruction Over $1,000, Property Destruction Under $1,000, and 3 COUNTS of Reckless Endangerment.

FAILURE TO OBEY LAWFUL ORDER & RESISTING ARREST – On August 10, 2014 at 12:50AM, Deputy John Davis responded to a residence located on Lupes Court in Mechanicsville, for a loud music complaint. After dispersing the crowd, suspect Dakota James McFalls, 19, of Mechanicsville, began yelling profanity at deputies on the scene. He was ordered to stop or face being arrested. McFalls, who was intoxicated, continued yelling at deputies and was advised he was under arrest. While placing McFalls in handcuffs he pulled away and attempted to run. He was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. McFalls was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Failure to Obey a Law Order, and Resisting Arrest.

THEFT – On August 9, 2014, Deputy S. Cameron responded to the Belk Department Store in California for a reported theft. The investigation revealed the store’s loss prevention employee observed suspect Anita Louis Schriver, 34, of Piney Point, conceal a girl’s hair tie and leave without paying. Schriver had also committed an earlier theft at the store on 8-5-14 (earrings) but was not apprehended.  Schriver was inside the store in violation of a notice not to trespass. She was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. Schriver was charged with 2 COUNTS of Theft Under $100 and Trespassing Private Property.

THEFT – On August 10, 2014, Corporal Connelly responded to the Walmart located in California, for a reported theft. Loss prevention employee reported suspects Jessica Marie Vermillion, 32, of Chaptico, and Joseph Allen Stillwell, 37, of Chaptico, scanned only 17 items at the self-checkout and placed several additional pieces of merchandise in the shopping bags which were not paid for. They then exited the store. The value of the theft was over $350. Both suspects were charged with Theft Under $1,000 by Criminal Citation.

BURGLARY – On August 10, 2014, Deputy S. Cameron responded to a residence in the 44000 block of St. Andrew’s Church Road for a burglary in progress. The victim alleged he woke up after hearing his car alarm going off. He looked outside to see a white female standing between his two vehicles. The victim went outside to check on her welfare and discovered she was intoxicated. The suspect identified as Donna Michelle Hill, 33, of Clements, then followed the victim inside of his residence and refused to leave. Deputy Cameron placed Hill under arrest. The investigation revealed both of the victim’s vehicles had been entered and contents had been moved by Hill.  Hill was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and charged with 4^th Degree Burglary, 2 COUNTS Rogue and Vagabond, and Disturbing the Peace.

ASSAULT – On August 11, 2014, Deputy Bowen responded to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center for a fight between inmates. The investigation revealed suspect Michael Ryan Norfolk, 25, of Great Mills, shoved the victim during an argument over butter. Norfolk was charged with 2^nd Degree Assault DOC Employee (inmate).

8-8-14 THEFT - A complainant reported unknown suspect(s) stole 2 inboard outdrive boat motors from the Boatel California located on North Patuxent Beach Road. Case remains open and is assigned to Corporal O'Connor. Case #43035-14

8-8-14 THEFT - A victim reported her purse with contents was stolen from an office at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Case remains open and is assigned to Corporal Connelly. Case #43067-14

8-9-14 MVA Fly-Out - At 3:17 PM, deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident in the area of 28585 Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville. The investigation revealed a 2000 Ford Explorer collided with 2 other vehicles while traveling southbound. The driver of the Explorer, a male, age 68, sustained a head injury from striking the windshield and was flown to an area hospital for precautionary measures. Case #43297-14

8-9-14 THEFT - A victim, who resides on Lawrence Adam Drive, reported unknown suspect(s) entered his garage and stole tools. Case remains open and is assigned to Deputy Pleisse. Case #43316-14

8-10-14 BURGLARY - A victim reported unknown suspect(s) entered her residence located on Wolftrap Street by forcing open a back door. Case remains open and is assigned to Deputy Roszell. Case #43429-14

8-10-14 ATTEMPTED BURGLARY - A complainant reported an unidentified male was attempting to gain entry into Copsey's Seafood located at 29084 Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville. Deputies arrived on the scene and the suspect was gone. Case remains open. Case #43508-14

8-11-14 ROBBERY - Employees at the Checker's located on Great Mills Road reported a black male suspect pushed an employee at the window and made entry into the business. Once inside he attempted to steal property then fled on foot. Deputies assisted by MSP Trooper 7 attempted to locate the suspect without success. Case remains open and is assigned to Deputy Teague. 8-11-14 THEFT - The property manager for 47332 Eagan McAllister Lane reported several air conditioning units had been stolen. Case remains open and is assigned to Deputy Fennessey. Case #43548-14

8-12-14 BURGLARY MOTOR VEHICLES - 3 vehicles were entered by unknown suspect(s) while they were parked at the Park Sunoco Body Shop. Case remains open. Case #43726-14

Bike Patrol Leads to Alcohol & Trespassing Violations

On August 6, 2014, members of the Lexington Park COPs UNIT, conducted checks of several areas in Lexington Park known for illegal activity while on bike patrol. The following suspects were observed consuming alcoholic beverages in a public place and cited.

At 8:40 PM, Joseph Kenneth Morgan, 51, of Lexington Park, was observed by DFC Beishline on the property of Canopy Liquors in violation of a no trespassing notice. He was charged with the violation by Criminal Citation.
