Results of St. Patrick’s Day Sobriety Checkpoint

On March 16, 2017, the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the Maryland State Police hosted a sobriety checkpoint in Charlotte Hall near the St. Mary’s/Charles County line.

A total of 409 vehicles passed through the checkpoint. No operators showed signs of impairment; however, an operator was issued a citation for the possession of marijuana.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office thanks the public for their patience and cooperation, and the Maryland State Police for their assistance. They also remind citizens that saturation patrols will begin this evening, March 17, and extend through Sunday.

Residents who believe an operator is driving under the influence are urged to contact the Emergency Communications Center at 301-475-8008 and provide them with a location and tag number, if possible.

Lastly, motorists are asked to celebrate this St. Patrick’s Day weekend responsibly.
