Arrests 1-27-2017



1-16-2017 – Possession – Deputy First Class J. Maguire was conducting traffic enforcement in the area of First Colony Boulevard and FDR Boulevard when he observed a motor vehicle run a stop sign. DFC Maguire initially stopped the vehicle; however, the vehicle then quickly sped off going through a parking lot at a high rate of speed. The vehicle continued for nearly two miles attempting to evade the deputy before coming to a stop on Old Rolling Road. The operator of the vehicle, Andre Jesse Brothers, age 28, of California, exited the vehicle. A search incident of the vehicle revealed a significant amount of marijuana in plastic baggies, a “grinder," and nearly $600 in cash. Brothers was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where he was charged with CDS Possession Marijuana 10 GM+ and CDS Possession Paraphernalia. CASE# 2802-17

1-17-2017 – Possession – Cpl. E. O’Connor responded to a suspicious person incident in the 45000 block of Chancellor’s Run Court in Great Mills. The investigation revealed the suspect, Joy Marie Jackson, age 41, of Great Mills, had active warrants for her arrest. Another deputy recognized her and detained Jackson until O’Connor arrived on scene. She was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where a standard intake search was completed which revealed Jackson attempted to conceal suspected Oxycodone. She was served her active warrants and charged with Possession of CDS While Confined, CDS Possession Paraphernalia, and CDS Possession – Not Marijuana. CASE# 2929-17

1-19-2017 – Assault – Corporal E. Johnson responded to the 20000 block of Abell Road to investigate the report of an assault. The victim alleged the suspect, Kenneth Emill Sola, Jr., age 49, of Abell, struck the victim in the chest. Although the victim displayed no signs of injury, deputies determined an active protective order was in place prohibiting Sola from being on the property. He was arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. Sola was charged with Violation of a Protective Order and Second Degree Assault. CASE# 3367-17

1-22-2017 – Assault – Deputy S. Kerby responded to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center for the report of an assault on an inmate. The victim alleged the suspect, Amanda Rae Bailey, age 34, of Leonardtown, threw a remote at the victim’s head then a water bottle and proceeded to spit in the victim’s face. The assault was recorded with surveillance. Bailey was charged with Second Degree Assault on an Inmate. CASE# 3966-17

1-21-2017 – Assault – Deputy S. Kerby responded to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center for a reported assault. The investigation revealed, the suspect, Anita Monique Plater, age 33, of Leonardtown, punched the victim in the face several times. During the assault, a second suspect, identified as Latoya Nicole Woodland, age 29, of Great Mills also assaulted the victim by grabbing the victim by the neck and hair while the first suspect, Plater, continued to punch the victim. The suspects were both charged with Second Degree Assault on an Inmate. CASE# 3840-17

1-21-2017 – Assault – Sgt. K. Moritz was on patrol when he observed a motor vehicle pull away from the Stop and Shop in Great Mills at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was located in the Fox Chase Apartments and the operator, identified as Ronald Devon Young, age 43, of Lexington Park, had exited the vehicle and was walking away. Moritz attempted to make contact with Young who was very uncooperative and struck the deputy with his fist. A struggle ensued, and multiple units responded to assist. Young was subsequently arrested and determined to be under the influence of alcohol. He was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and charged with Second Degree Assault on Law Enforcement, Second Degree Assault, and Resisting Arrest. CASE# 3676-17

1-21-2017 – Possession – Corporal J. Stone responded to the 22000 block of Valley Estate Drive in Lexington Park to assist another deputy with a conservator. During the investigation, the suspect, David Eric Strain, age 30, of Lexington Park was located in the residence. Deputies confirmed suspect Strain had active arrest warrants. He was placed under arrest, and a search incident revealed suspected Clonazepam in his possession. Additionally, the motor vehicle he was operating was searched and suspected marijuana was located. Strain was served a District Court Warrant for failure to appear, issued multiple other warrants and served a Circuit Court indictment for possession of a firearm. CASE# 3750-17

1-25-2017 – Assault – Deputy A. Budd responded to the 21000 block of Columbia Street in Lexington Park for the report of harassment. The victim alleged the suspect, Mark Alan Kiger, age 55, of Lexington Park, threatened the victim with a hammer. Kiger was arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where he was charged with First Degree Assault. CASE# 4650-17

1-12-2017 – Escape – Sgt. K. Moritz was on patrol in the area of Lexwood Drive on Great Mills Road when he observed the suspect, Anna Drue Mizak, age 28, of Great Mills, walking down the street. Sgt. Moritz confirmed there was an outstanding retake warrant for Mizak. She was arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where she was charged with Escape Second Degree and Retake Warrant. CASE# 4716-17

1-26-2017 – Assault – Deputy A. Budd responded to the 44000 block of King Drive in California for a reported assault. The victim alleged the suspect, Jerry Antonio Niles, age 49, of California, grabbed the victim by the throat and pushed the victim against a wall. The victim displayed visible injuries. Niles was arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged Second Degree Assault. CASE#4841-17
