#SMCSO Investigating Assault at Spring Ridge Middle School

UPDATE: As stated in our previous press release, during the initial investigation, it was reported a juvenile was stabbed with scissors by another juvenile. Further investigation confirms the incident occurred between two students in a classroom. One student had a safety pin and cut the other student’s hand causing minor lacerations. There were no disruptions to school activities, and the juvenile suspect is being charged accordingly.   




St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office deputies are currently on the scene at Spring Ridge Middle School investigating a minor assault. The preliminary investigation has revealed a juvenile student stabbed another student on the hand with scissors causing minor lacerations. The victim was transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment and deputies are on the scene with the juvenile suspect. The incident is controlled, and no additional safety concerns exist. 

St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officers are continuing the investigation.
