St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Animal Cruelty Case

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division is seeking information from the public that will lead to the identification of suspect(s) involved in an animal cruelty case. On May 8, 2016, Deputy J. Smith responded to the 40000 block of Dellabrooke Road in Mechanicsville, for the report of an injured animal.
The investigation revealed a black pit bull mix with white paws, was suffering from visible lacerations to the right side of its neck caused by a suspected rope or cable used as a leash for the dog.
The complainant advised the dog was walking around the yard when the complainant noticed the deep laceration and immediately called the Sheriff’s Office.
Animal control was contacted and transported the dog to a local Veterinary Hospital for treatment.
