On
October 9, 2014, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office conducted underage compliance checks
at various liquor stores, restaurants, and bars. During the compliance checks
Alcohol Enforcment Coordinator, Corporal James Stone and Deputy Rozier Steinbach
utilized underage confidential informants to attempt to purchase alcoholic
beverages from seventeen predetermined locations in St. Mary's County.
Five establishments failed the compliance check. The
retail license holders for these establishments will be cited for the sale of liquor
to persons under age 21 and will face possible fines and/or suspension of their liquor
licenses.
