COPs UNIT, CID Make Quick Arrest in Robbery Attempt

ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY/FIRST DEGREE ASSAULT – On October 17, 2014, Deputy Beasley responded to the Burger King located on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park, for a reported armed robbery. The victim, an employee of the restaurant, reported an unknown suspect drove up to the drive thru window after ordering food. The suspect suddenly pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded money. The employee ducked down behind the counter and alerted the manager. The suspect, described as a white male operating a small red pick-up truck, immediately left the scene.

A short time later, Sergeant Clay Safford, assigned to the Lexington Park COPs UNIT, observed a truck matching the description provided by the victim. Sergeant Safford stopped the truck on Spring Valley Drive. Detective Corporal David Alexander from the Criminal Investigations Division responded to the vehicle stop and additional investigation was conducted. The driver, identified as Jake Travis Marble, 29, of no fixed address, was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’ s County Detention Center. He was charged with Attempted Armed Robbery and First Degree Assault.
